THE O’GARA GROUP RECEIVES $6.4 MILLION ORDER FROM UNITED KINGDOM'S MINISTRY OF DEFENSE
UK MOD to Purchase Highly Advanced Night Vision Goggles from The O’Gara Group for use in Military and Other Counter-Terrorism Operations
The O’Gara Group announced that its Sensor Technology Systems, Inc. (STS) subsidiary received a $6.4 million purchase order from the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defense for STS’s advanced AN/PVS-21 Low Profile Night Vision Goggles (LPNVG).
“Prior to placing this order, the Ministry of Defense performed an extensive evaluation
of night vision goggles available in the market today and determined that the STS solution was
the most superior product available that met their mission requirements. This order makes a strong
statement about the performance and advanced capabilities of the Low Profile Night Vision Goggles
produced by STS,” said Michael (Chip) Lennon, Chief Operating Officer of The
O’Gara Group. “The demand for STS’s unique night vision goggles is a clear
indication that sophisticated militaries are increasingly integrating real-time sensor information
into all aspects of a conflict – especially for the operators performing aggressive missions
under the cover of darkness.”
International orders have increased as a result of higher demand and a greater international marketing
effort in 2006. STS expects additional orders from other European and NATO countries. The order
from the UK Ministry of Defense will be delivered through 2007.
The AN/PVS-21 Low Profile Night Vision Goggle has a rugged, low-profile
binocular (or monocular) design that provides unmatched sensor fusion capabilities in diverse
and aggressive operational environments. STS’s LPNVG is the only production NVG with an integrated
Heads-Up Display capability which allows video signals, such as GPS data or the output of a
thermal scope, to be presented directly into the operator’s night vision scene.
